Book - Mavo

A seven-year old girl sat at a table and painted. The room where she was sitting was bright, it was the Christmas tree casting shadows on the wall with its gleaming candles. Mavo, this was the girl's name, was absorbed in her story, the figures she shaped, which she put down on paper, were coloured and in all colours. From the girl's smile one could see that she was happy. Yet, when Mavo had finished painting the last chain link, the seventh man in red, she suddenly reached a high stone wall.

Chapter 2
Suddenly, just as Mavo had taken this 'be quiet' to heart, a donkey appeared from a distance. The donkey was nice to look at. It had a blue coat and Mavo ran as fast as she could to it. It looked trusting and Mavo caressed its coat. „What’s your name?“, asked Mavo. „My name is Leo.“ „What are you doing here?“ „I’m waiting!“ „And what are you waiting for?“ „For myself.“ „You are already here!“ „Yes, well, I’m waiting. I’m waiting until I’m ready to come.“ „Come where?“ „To me. I’m waiting until I am ready to come to me. And it takes time for that.“ „What is time?“, asked Mavo. „Time is what makes coming possible and judging difficult. Time is what is in ourselves and is given to all. Time is what you have and what I have. Therefore, there are many times. However, you have your own time.“ „Still do tell me, Leo, what is time?“ „Time is where you are now.“

Chapter 5
Maria was lying in bed. She was tired from work. It was dark outside and still the air was suffused with a dense warmth. Maria closed her eyes and on that very moment she was in another world, in another reality.

Chapter 1
Mavo looked at the narrow passageways opening up in front of her, overgrown with ivy and grape ivy shimmering in all green shades, light green, mustard green, dark green, olive green. Everywhere there were passageways, passageways with many openings, and yet Mavo did not know where Toga was taking her. „Toga, can you tell me where you are taking me?“ „Be quiet, you shall see!“

Chapter 4
Mavo’s eyes beamed and suddenly she realized that it had begun snowing. She set out following Toga along the white snow-covered passageways. A short time later she caught sight of a sheep, white in white within its environment. Mavo loved sheep and greeted it fondly. „Oh, you dear sheep, may I ask you what is your name?“ „I have no name, I am nameless.“, answered the sheep. „And why don’t you have a name?“ „Because I do not know who I am.“ „What does it mean you don’t know who you are, you are a sheep!“ „There are many sheep in this world, but I do not know who I am!“ „I…“, thought Mavo, „also do not know. Can you tell me what is this I you are looking for?“, asked Mavo the sheep. „I is what you feel when you hear and when you see and when you smell. I is what you perceive at a moment in time and in a place. I is what you are when you are one.

Chapter 8
And Mavo looked around, saw the grape ivy that in the meanwhile was red, saw the tortoise that had crept forward on its way, said goodbye to Leo and followed Toga. The leaves displayed all red tones. Red was Mavo's favourite colour and therefore she enjoyed the way through the following passageways even more. „Toga!“, said Mavo, „Can you see this red?“ „I see everything!“ „You are so small, you can't possibly see everything!“ „And yet I see everything!“ „And how can you manage?“ „I see what is in front of me just now, and that is everything.“ And it made another small step forward.

Chapter 6
„Hallo“, said a gentle voice to Mavo. Mavo looked around and couldn't see where the voice was coming from. „Hallo“, repeated the voice, „I am Toga!“ And Mavo saw a small tortoise in front of her feet that stretched its neck out of the carapace and looked at Mavo „I want to guide you. I want to guide you through this labyrinth.“ „What is a labyrinth?“ „You shall see!“ And both, Toga and Mavo went slowly in. Inside through a gate, into the labyrinth, and Toga showed Mavo the way. „Can you tell me where I am, Toga?“ „You have lost consciousness“, answered Toga, „Now you are in your self.“

Chapter 3
Mavo wondered what would come up to her next, the passageways were in fact so narrow and tight and had so
many openings . And yet Toga led the way securely. So securely that Mavo believed that Toga knew exactly
where she was going and where the way was leading. When she had just passed the next opening a voice
suddenly hissed from the thicket: „Stop!“
Mavo was frightened, she look around and saw a snake in the most marvellous colours in the red leaves.
„I am afraid“, whispered Mavo to Toga.
„Fear is the opening to truth“, it reassured her.
„Who – who are you?“, asked Mavo fearfully the snake.
„My name is Ita“, it answered.
„And why have you frightened me?“
„I did not want to frighten you, I only want to tell you something.“
Ita did not look so evil, as it had appeared at the beginning, its voice was certainly exacting and brusque, but it had something fine in it, something of a fine lady. So it sounded to Mavo anyway.
„What – what do you want to
Chapter 7
Maria woke up. She felt chilly. She went to the cupboard, looked at the picture with the seven weekdays that she had painted a long time before and was happy that the next day was Sunday.
